The precious metals testing kit PMV PRO allows you to analyze the electrical properties on the surface of the sample, all the way through the sample and it is also possible to do a specific gravity test directly on the screen by using the sample weight.

Like the Original PMV, all PMV PRO sensors can test the surface electrical properties of the sample. Even this analysis penetrates deep enough to reveal heavy plating.

Using two bridge sensors, PMV PRO can measure the resistance through the entire sample and determine if it is the same as on the surface. In this way it can detect inserted metals and a fake core. Bridge sensors can also measure the thickness of the sample, even through plastic packaging and cases.

After entering the weight and measuring the thickness, you can determine whether the density (specific gravity) of the sample is consistent with the selected metal. Directly on the screen, it is possible to test whether the length / width or sample diameter corresponds to weight, resistance, metal type, and sample thickness.

Large bridge sensor (left) measures samples with a diameter of 30 mm or more. The maximum thickness that can be used on this sensor is 14 mm. The small bridge sensor measures samples with a diameter of at least 8 mm. The maximum thickness that can be used is 4.2 mm.

The Refiners Wand allows for measurements of surface resistivity (like the original PMV) for bars thicker than 14 mm. It measures 50% deeper than the Bullion wand that comes with the original PMV. The Microwand can measure items as small as 3 mm.

PMV PRO already contains a number of standard metals and alloys such as pure gold, 22K gold with copper (Krugerrand), 22K gold 3% silver 5.3% copper (American Gold Eagle), 98.6% gold (ducate gold) and 90% gold with copper, pure silver, coin silver, 90% silver, older 90% silver, 80% silver and Britannia silver, platinum, palladium, rhodium and copper. You can add custom metals and alloys via your computer.
