2012 Perth Mint Kookaburra 1 oz Silver Coin (With Capsule)
The Perth Mint has announced the September 1, 2011 worldwide release date for the 2012 Silver Kookaburra bullion coins.
The Kookaburra is best known for its call, which sounds like human laughter. The Perth Mint has issued silver coins featuring the Australian bird since 1990, with a new reverse design prepared for each year of release.
The latest design features the Kookaburra perched on a tree branch amid eucalypt leaves. The inscriptions read “Australian Kookaburra”, “2012”, the bullion weight, and “999 silver”. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark is also incorporated. On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions “Elizabeth II”, “Australia”, and the legal tender face value.
All Silver Kookaburra coins are issued in protective acrylic capsules.
