The Kookaburra Series, honoring one of Australia’s most recognizable birds, began in 1990. Throughout the years, many bullion, proof, and special editions of these beloved silver coins have been released. While the obverse design remains the same each year, the reverse always changes, making kookaburra coins exciting to collect.
The obverse of this gold Kookaburra coin features the familiar effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by engraver Jody Clark. She is shown wearing her royal crown and jewels.
The reverse of this coin pays homage to the original design by Stuart Devlin back in 1990. A kookaburra sits atop the stump of a tree amid beautiful foliage. A new design element appears on the reverse in the form of the dual dates (1990 and 2020) etched around the rim.
