An eagle looks regal in the Great Seal on the reverse of the American Silver Eagle, a shield in front of its chest, clutching arrows and a laurel in its claws to symbolize war and peace. In its beak is a banner with E PLURIBUS UNUM festooned upon it. A downward-pointing triangle of 13 stars is overhead. Around the rim are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER and ONE DOLLAR", means all American Silver Eagles are struck in the one troy ounce denomination with a stated face value of $1.
