2021 Chinese Panda 3 gram 999 Gold Coin

With a face value of 50 yuan, this Chinese Panda coin is considered legal tender in China, but is worth a great deal more due to its gold content.
The Chinese Gold Panda series was first issued in 1982 by the People’s Bank of China. It was originally available in 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz sizes. The 5 oz, 12 oz, and 1/20 oz sizes were added later. In 2016, the People’s Bank of China switched their measurements over to the metric system, releasing 1, 3, 8, 15, and 30 gram coins. Additionally, Proof editions are struck in 1 kilo, 150 grams, 100 grams, and 50 grams. Collectors greatly enjoy the panda series for its diverse size range, but they also look forward to the annually-updated reverse design as well!
The obverse of the coin displays the Temple of Heaven, a complex of religious buildings located in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The year of mintage is inscribed along the rim, alongside the Chinese Characters for “People’s Republic of China.”
The reverse for the 2021 Gold Panda showcases a mother panda watching over her offspring as it climbs a tree. The coin’s denomination is inscribed above the mother’s head while the weight and purity are inscribed along the rim.
