2016 Monkey Privy 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf (with Capsule)
The 2016 Canadian 1 Oz Silver Maple Leaf Monkey Privy Coin is the eighth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint annual limited edition series that ran from 1998. Celebrating the year 2016 as the Lunar Year of the Monkey, these coins were limited to only 50,000 pieces. Adding to the collectible value of this coin, each coin comes with coin capsule. This beautiful coin has matte fields on both obverse and reverse with shiny features, making for a striking addition to your collection. These coins also make a thoughtful gift for that curious and playful “monkey” among friends or family who were born in the years 1908, 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004 and 2016.
The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Canadian Susanna Blunt, along with the words “ELIZABETH II”, the face value 5 DOLLARS and the year of issue. The reverse features the classical Maple Leaf design, except with shiny features above the field. The matte “9999” subtly flanks the leaf on either side. Tucked below the left of the maple leaf is a privy mark of a carefully crafted monkey, celebrating the Lunar Year of the Monkey. The legend “FINE SILVER 1 Oz ARGENT PUR” is struck along the bottom edge.
Privy marked Silver Maples occupy a unique space in the bullion industry. Each round consists of one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver like its non-privy marked counterparts. The privy mark, however, is an additional design element, and in combination with the greatly reduced mintage numbers, Privy Mark Silver Maples carry a much higher numismatic value than other Silver Maples.
Worldwide Limited Mintage
No more than 50,000 individual 1 oz coins will be released.
