These magnificent Australian Lunar series of gold coins epitomizes the Perth Mint's rich tradition of minting gold bullion coins portraying Chinese Lunar themes and celebrate the Year of the Goat. The reverse design of this year's release marks the 2015 Year of the Goat, one of the 12 animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar and the eighth coin in this series.

In Chinese culture, people born in the Year of the Goat – 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003 and 2015. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be elegant, charming, artistic, gifted, shy, sympathetic and calm.

Meticulously struck from 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, no more than 3,000 individual 1oz coins, 5,000 1/4oz coins, 4,000 1/10oz coins and 1,500 three-coin sets will be released and each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.

The reverse of the coin depicts an adult male goat standing on a ridge in a stylised mountain scene. The Chinese character for ‘goat’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Goat’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2015 year-date and the monetary denomination are shown on the coin’s obverse.

Each individual coin and three-coin set is housed in an elegant oval-shaped display case featuring a glossy timber-effect lid and is presented in a coloured illustrated shipper. A numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the individual 1oz, 1/4oz and 1/10oz coins and the Three-Coin Set.
