Mongolia Ural Owl Strix Uralensis 1 oz Silver Coin
The Ural owl (Strix uralensis) is a large owl characterized by its distinctive facial disc. It inhabits open lichen forests and expansive moorlands across the northern hemisphere. Its diet primarily consists of mice, birds, and insects, but it also preys on larger animals such as rabbits and young wood grouse.
The Ural owl’s breeding season begins in March. During this time, the female typically lays around four eggs over a period of two to three days. While she incubates the eggs, the male provides food for her. The chicks hatch approximately one month later and leave the nest about 90 days after birth. Ural owls generally remain close to their birthplace, with only a few individuals undertaking long-distance migrations. In the wild, they can live for more than 20 years.
