When you purchase the rounds in this listing, you will receive your specimen inside of a capsule with a Certificate of Authenticity included. This is one of three options in the 2021 Chestnut Leaf release alongside a 1 oz silver proof, limited to 500 rounds, and a 1 oz gold proof, limited to just 100 rounds.

A chestnut leaf is depicted in the obverse design of the 1 oz Silver 2021 Chestnut Leaf Rounds. The image of the mature leaf comes with two of its fruit, the edible chestnut. You can see that the larger of the two nuts is further along in its development and has emerged from the budding flower. This is set against a background field that is filled with a beaded element. Inscriptions include Chestnut Leaf and 1 oz 999.9 Fine Silver.

The two-headed eagle from Roman mythology and used in Germania Mint shield designs features on the reverse of 1 oz Silver 2021 Chestnut Leaf Rounds. This design shows a bird with a single body and two heads, one looking left and the other right. The concept of two-headed eagles highlights a cultures view of the past and its focus on the future. The arrow-tipped bolts in the talons of the eagle are a symbol of power. With a beaded outer border, the round has inscriptions of Germania, 2021, and 5 Mark around the edge.

The Mythical Forest Series launched at the Germania Mint in 2019 with the Oak Leaf design. During the COVID-19 pandemic, no design was issued for the 2020 date mark. As such, the Chestnut Leaf picks up the series in 2021. Future designs include the Beech and Linden Leaf designs.
