This image from Ing Ing Jong depicts an adult ox in the foreground beneath the branch of a cherry blossom tree with its young calf at its side. The background of the design field showcases plowed fields leading to a small farming village in the distance. The only English inscription on this side is Ox 2021, with the Chinese symbol for the ox included.

The Chinese Lunar Calendar follows a 12-year cycle that starts with the Year of the Mouse and ends with the Year of the Pig. Each animal is associated with a specific year based on that animal arrival to a meeting with the Jade Emperor. Chinese cultural mythology suggests that the ox arrived second, just behind the mouse.
