Product Description

2014 Perth Mint Gold Gilded Horse 1 oz Silver Coin

This year’s stunning Gilded Edition from the Australian Lunar Series II depicts the agile horse, the seventh of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar.

In Chinese culture, gold is believed to symbolise wealth and happiness, which makes the gilding on this release an appealing feature for the discerning collector or gift buyer.

The coin is meticulously struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver.

The coin's reverse depicts two horses, gilded in 24-carat gold, standing in a stylised landscape displaying trees, rockery and a river. In Chinese culture, gold is said to symbolise wealth and happiness. The delicate artistry is complemented by the Chinese character for ‘horse’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Horse’. The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark also appears in the design.

Issued as Australian legal tender, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2014 year-date, the monetary denomination, and the coin’s weight and fineness appear on its obverse.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 47,500 of the 1oz Gilded Edition coins celebrating the 2014 Year of the Horse, from a maximum mintage of 50,000. Each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The coin is housed in a striking red and black display case and illustrated shipper.
